More on ("moron") Fat Asses

This coming Saturday is my second Fat Ass of this winter's Expedition Series. The first one, a trail run, was a great success with 27 folks coming out to play. This one, a little lower in attendance. Maybe it's because this weekends 37 mile run is done entirely on paved bike path, and a monotonous path at that. This weekends route goes follows along the shores of Clear Creek (Coors Beer Water) and the South Platte River. It also features one mountain, only 3 miles of road, a few sketchy sections of town.. and not a whole lot else. Either way, I'm excited to be welcoming the 6 who will be running the full version and the 3 running the half. Still, 9 folks is a higher than normal attendance for these events and overall I'm pleased.

I've been thinking an awful lot lately about the direction of this blog. I feel like it's time for an upgrade, to bring it to the next level. I've been kicking the tires about this for quite awhile.. and I've been pondering moving it all over to Word Press. The problem is, that I can' find a Word press theme that I like and I have no clue how to design one. I'm terrible with HTML, and I want the entire transition to go easily. So.. some hurdles there.. but the biggest hurdle of all is solidifying what this blog is really about or what you, my readers, want it to be about. So.. tell me. I'd love the input. What are the things that you've truly enjoyed over the years? Help shape the vision of HP. And if you know anyone who can help shape the design.. I'd love the help there as well.

Back on the topic of Fat Asses, I'm also designing a secondary site as we speak. The site is called "Fat Ass UltraS" and is a database for Fat Ass runs all over the United States.
There's your first look at the site logo. Basically I want the site to celebrate Fat Ass running. The premise "No fee, No Aid, No Shirts, No Wimps." I want to remind folks that running an ultra doesn't need to cost you hundreds-of-dollars. You can do one in your very own back yard. I want to celebrate that. The site plan is to make it a place where anyone and everyone, across the country, can use the site to create a small webpage for their upcoming fat ass. It helps you advertise the event on social media, send the link out to folks who would want to join you, etc. And.. for those looking for a Fat Ass to run, a database of every fat ass in the country will be at their fingertips, with the ability to connect with fat ass organizers everywhere. It will also provide folks with guidance in regards to hosting their own fat ass, creating routes, etc.

Hurdles.. same ones. I have no knowledge of HTML, CSS, or any of the like that would allow me to create the site I truly want this to be.. and this one requires coding above and beyond what the Human Potential blog would.

So work to be done.. ever onward. For now.. running a Fat Ass this weekend.. still losing weight.

Cheers!
Sherpa

  1. I love Fat Ass events! Big races like VT100 and others with their big fees and big crowds never appealed to me. Looking forward to seeing the new FA site.
